How to setup your device to join the Zoom Yoga or Pilates Free Challenges
If this is the first time you’re joining a live online Yoga or Pilates class, here are a few useful bits of information to get you started.
What device to use
We recommend to use a laptop if possible, for a better view of the teacher. But phones or tablets work too.
Our classes run on Zoom. If you’ve never used it before, you can install it on your phone, tablet or laptop. On your mobile device, look for Zoom Cloud Meetings. On your desktop or laptop, you can install it from the website, right before joining your first session.
You’ll get the links the sessions both the day before the challenge starts, and each day of the challenge, a couple of hours before the session.
If nothing prompts on your screen after you click the link, follow the instructions on your browser to download and install Zoom.
You can check out this simple 1 minute instructions video on how to join a meeting.
When joining, select “Join with Video”, and setup your camera so that your mat area is fully visible. Also enable the audio feature so you can hear the teacher.
Once you’re in the meeting, you’ll see the two icons for sound and video – if they have a red line crossing over them, it means they’re off. Please enable them to be able to communicate. Once you join, to view the teacher, select speaker view on your Zoom app instead of Gallery view. You can also choose to Pin the Video of the teacher by clicking the 3 dots on the view of the teacher.
Possible messages on the screen
“Waiting for the host to start the meeting” means your teacher hasn’t opened the virtual room yet. Either wait or come back in a couple of minutes.
“The host has locked the meeting” usually happens when there are 2 classes back to back and the teachers haven’t swapped control of the room yet. If that is the case, try to join again a few minutes before the start time of the session you’re booked in for.
“Please wait, the meeting host will let you in soon” means you’re in the “waiting room” and you’ll very soon be admitted into the class.
